Giles is one of the world’s leading and most respected international sponsorship marketers & key opinion formers, with over 30 years of experience in the global sports marketing industry. He specialises in partnership marketing & sponsorship strategy, event planning, data-analytics, communications & media planning and activation programming in sport, entertainment and the arts and he works with a number of leading rights holders, brands and is an investor in a number of early stage sport tech companies.
From 2005-2018, Giles was Global head of Sponsorship at HSBC plc. Focused on delivering strategic and targeted commercial partnership marketing programmes around the world – with considerable experience in Europe, Asia, Middle East & Oceania. In particular, his expertise was focused in both the development of partnerships in new geographies as well developing international partnership strategies in sport & the investment in data & digital strategy & sport-tech as well as programs supporting diversity & inclusion & societally impactful CSR programs.
As well as a prolific podcaster on The Sports Business podcast of the year “Are You Not Entertained”podcast – with both his award-winning show The Captain’s Table & Groundsmen Discussions, Giles is a sought-after key-note speaker at international sports business conferences. He is also a regular media contributor including his regular Sports Pro Magazine column – The Captain’s Broadside.
Giles is a keen amateur pianist, sports historian, passionate follower of Welsh Rugby and a truly abysmal golfer. He has two teenage children who he is inordinately proud of and who run rings around him on a daily basis.
